The latest U.S. News & World Report Best Law School rankings, released on March 29, saw the University of South Carolina School of Law significantly distance itself from its 2021 position.

USC has moved into a tie for No. 84, after having been ranked No. 96 each of the previous two years. The school’s dean, William Hubbard, said he was pleased with the double-digit jump.

“We clearly have momentum here at the law school,” Hubbard said. “It was a real team effort.”

Hubbard said that the school significantly improved in a few areas, including its LSAT profile and scholarship production, and in assessments from judges and lawyers, and its peer reputation.

“Those were big drivers … but also, improving our bar passage, improving our employment and graduation and employment 10 months out—all of those are improved metrics that we can control,” Hubbard said.

As has been the case in all previous years, Charleston School of Law was unranked.
