McAngus Goudelock & Courie, a regional insurance defense firm, announces the addition of litigation attorneys Danielle Payne and Greg Collins to the firm’s Charleston office. Payne will focus on litigation, construction, professional liability and coverage and bad faith. Collins’ practice focuses on litigation, including personal injury and premise liability.

The South Carolina Bar has named attorney T. McRoy “Roy” Shelley III as its Law-Related Education (LRE) Lawyer of the Year. Shelley isa shareholder in the Columbia office of Rogers Townsend & Thomas. Shelley is head of the firm’s litigation department.

Richardson Plowden shareholder Emily Gifford has been certified as a circuit court mediator by the South Carolina Supreme Court’s Board of Arbitrator and Mediator Certification. Gifford joins 11 other Richardson Plowden attorneys who are certified arbitrators and mediators. Gifford’s statewide litigation practice focuses on construction law, including surety law and commercial litigation.

Rosen Hagood shareholder Alice Paylor received the Platinum Compleat Lawyer Award from the University of South Carolina School of Law Alumni Council at its annual alumni dinner on April 30. Paylor focuses her law practice in the areas of complex business and commercial litigation, employment litigation, and school and education law.

Elizabeth “Beth” J. Palmer of Charleston and Rebecca Roser of Columbia have been named Young Lawyers of the Year by the SC Bar Young Lawyers Division (YLD). Palmer is a shareholder with Rosen, Rosen & Hagood of Charleston. Roser is an attorney with Robinson McFadden Law Firm in Columbia. The annual Young Lawyer of the Year Award recognizes young lawyers who most exemplify excellence in practicing law and public service. Palmer and Roser were presented with the award at YLD’s annual retreat on April 25 and will be recognized during the Bar’s House of Delegates meeting on May 14 in Greenville.
